If I were writing a Scoopwhoop post that intended to be "talking" to the readers, I'd say "Don't you remember the times when you were totally worked up about some small little thing in your life but later, when it was all sorted out, you looked back and had a good laugh at the thought of how silly it had been?" Although then, you were worried out of your wits. That day you only saw the world above your nose and your heart was beating in your ears, your breath was in your head and going faster than you ever ran in your life. And they kept it up. The little bump in your life had come looking so graceful, it had gotten you nervous.
A friend of mine, the other day got my head splitting after days of laughter. He had red ears and an annoyed mind, but as listener I could sit back and have fun. Last night he called me and informed that the train he was on just chugged away from Kolkata, right on time. This was 8pm. At 10am the next morning, the train had managed to creep a few miles and make it into the next state, Bihar. However, I cannot bring myself to get surprised on that note because not many months ago, my sister was traveling on another train along the same route when sometime in the middle of the night the engine got disconnected and went on its way for about half an hour till it was flagged and ordered to return to the train that, clearly, was not the pilot's responsibility to carry to the destination.
Nevertheless, my mirth goes back days; five days to be precise. A group of eight becomes six. Out of six, three have seats reserved on this heavy train and the other three, at least one of the other three, are dangerously on their titled chair's edge trying to book a ticket on another train. The problem: no tickets available. So then the six becomes five and the five becomes four because the fifth member was only being dragged by member six for, member six wanted member five to make his back and shoulders heavy by clinging onto them. Now four members can be adjusted into three seats aboard the almost astonishingly sluggish train but member four is skeptical about the conditions of the seats and toilets with which he has to spend two nights, and now considering its speed, no more need be said. Thus trip expenses having tripled and train tickets being settled, the journey, that was definitely not to happen only five hours before departure time, commences.
When one watches such unnecessary and hilarious convolutions behind the planning of group trips, one turns back pages through the travel diaries of one's own life and wonders why these confusions and misunderstandings happen at all. Especially because after a certain sufficient duration of time has passed, everyone in the group tends to find those events preceding the trip absurd no matter how many "rational" reasons can justify them.
Your head hasn't split in laughter? It's because you weren't vicariously experiencing these moments over the duration of the comedy show. Looking back, perhaps it was a good laugh over nothing.
