1. Her shoe sole came
off with a loud rip as she hurried through the bustle of people to the arrival
gate.
Such a bother, it was
already late.
No matter, the flight
never landed.
2. She shut the book
that was resting on her knees while her back leaned on the wall.
"So the
policeman had eaten the bloody leg of lamb... Hmmm..."
She got up to serve
her husband his evening tea.
3. She was so sweet
that you'd warm up to her the moment you saw her.
It's only when she
opened her mouth that you realised she held the whole world in there, engulfed
in a raging fire.
4. On her son's 20th
birthday, she sat staring at his 10 year old photo, wishing he were alive.
Doorbell rings.
No one of
significance; just his sister.
