"These metro coaches, for all their 'state of the art'
technology, don’t have sick bags! Maybe I should recommend one!" So said a
friend of mine while we were passing a metro journey together. It got me
thinking; maybe sick bags should be included. But will anything detachable ever
stay in its allotted place?
If sick bags were to be installed, let's consider for a moment
that it were, they would all be gone before they can be declared as a grand
installment! Surely, where 'The Logical Indian’ is concerned, the count of
people getting sick could increase in number just as all other pleasing things
have?
Well, we do seem to have a tendency to grow -- even if simply
in numbers. This is our way of Indianizing things; our culture of imbibing the
values of our brethren! If there were five people breaking traffic rules and
traversing in the wrong direction on a one-way road, now there are a hundred;
if there was one person peeing on a wall, now there are twenty! We definitely
have a 'thing' for picking trends! Most forward looking people we are!
But we don't blindly follow everything! Of course, not! That
would be undemocratic. We always protest against a strict rule passed, whether
the law or at home or at workplaces and institutions. No, it would not do to
conform to them, whatever good they're intended for. Any rule curtails freedom
of expression! So it is undemocratic to have rules! Being civil and well
mannered curtails freedom! We are a free people! No, Sir! We will do as we
please and follow whom we please and say what we please. After so many years of
independence, have we not this right?
